Susan Chapman Keeps First Selectman Seat In New Fairfield

NEW FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Republican Susan Chapman was re-elected in New Fairfield, winning the race for first selectman in voting on Tuesday.

According to preliminary numbers from the News-Times, Chapman beat her Democratic opponent, Theda Lambert, 1,929 votes to 1,169 votes. 

For selectman, Democrat Michael Gill topped his Republican opponent Kim Hanson. 

Other winners in the town's general election Tuesday include:

  • Town treasurer: Philip Cammarano. 
  • Board of Assessment Appeals: Gregory B. Manning, Nick A. Biasetti
  • Planning Commission: Peter Greco, Ernest Lehman
  • Library Directors: Janet Hansen, Gail DeFeo, Diane Welsh, Gail Lehman

Board of Education:

  • Samantha M. Mannion/Democratic Party
  • Scott Akam/Republican Party
  • Stephen Burfeind/Republican Party
  • Sean C. Loughran/Republican Party
  • Ed Shordone/Republican Party
